The Institute Pasteur of Tunis is a research and diagnosis Institute leader in Tunisia. In the field of rabies, most of the presumed rabid animals and humans of the whole country are diagnosed in the Rabies Unit of the Institute. Therefore, the data relative to rabies is centralized in our Institute. In addition, the Institute Pasteur of Tunis is involved in different research programs, trying to develop cell culture and DNA based rabies vaccines for animal use and to investigate the immune responses of dogs in field conditions.

Professor Dellagi K is the Head Department of the Laboratory of Immunology. He is a professor in haematology at the Faculty of Medicine of Tunis. He has an extensive experience in immunology and the management of multidisciplinary and complex projects. He will guide and supervise the realization of this project, particularly in Tunisia.
Bahloul C, is a PhD (Microbiology from the University of Paris XI) an MsC (Animal Health, Royal Veterinary College of London) and a Veterinary Doctor (Sidi Thabet, Tunisia). He is working as a researcher in the Institute Pasteur of Tunis, in the Laboratory of Immunology. His PhD is mostly dealing with rabies and particularly with rabies DNA vaccination. In the Institute, he carries on working with rabies DNA vaccination by trying to apply this approach for use in dogs. During this project, he will be the scientific coordinator of the whole project in addition to coordinating the realization of WP7 relative to the immune investigations and WP8 relative to the different meetings and results communication and exchanges.
Kharmachi H is a Veterinary Doctor and permanent staff, he is in charge of the Rabies Unit, in which almost all the national samples submitted for laboratory rabies diagnosis are performed. In addition he has carried out extensive field works of dog ecology in connection to rabies in the late 80ies and the beginning 90ies in collaboration with Matter HC. He will be the national coordinator and he will also lead and coordinate field works on dogs and will collaborate to the wildlife investigations with Dr Diouani F who has good experience of work in the field especially with dogs.
Khoufi S is an MD and permanent staff, he is in charge of the Department of Human vaccination, in which post-exposure treatments to rabies is delivered. He will be involved especially in the investigations of post-exposure treatment failures.
Ben Salah A is an MD, PhD with strong experiences in GIS applications, epidemiological studies and statistical analysis.
