Involvement in the project:
To set up a spatial and temporal distribution of rabies in animals and humans.
To find out determinants of failure in human rabies post exposure therapy accounting for persistance of fatal cases in humans in the region
To collect brain samples from the field
To investigate the existence of rabies in bats.
To contribute to the study of the virus strains isolated from different regions and species
Ability of the research team to execute the proposed project:
The Laboratoire Régional dÕAnalyses et de Recherches Vétérinaire de Casablanca has an important role in the diagnosis and the control of the animal rage, it contributed in several studies for the setting up and the assessment of the national rabies control program.
A part strategic missions of the LNEZ, this structure is involved in animal diseases surveillance at national level and at regional level for trans-boundary diseases in Africa and Middle East through RADISCON programs of FAO. The LNEZ is in charge of epidemiological data gathering and analysis and communication of results to decision makers and all the other animal health actors.
Dr Bouchrit works on followed it to the national of the human cases it is responsible for the studies on the reasons of post exposure therapy failure
Dr Id Sidi Yahia already worked on the survey of the canine ecology in the setting of the assessment of the national program of rage eradication
